A Sound Pregnancy

Sound Healing for an Harmonious Pregnancy

Having experienced the wondrous effect of sound during my own pregnancy, I wish to offer every expectant woman a chance to experience pregnancy as it should be:

A wonderful time where her positive attitude will be transmitted to her unborn baby, preparing the best conditions to enjoy the creation of a new life.

Why Sound can help with Pregnancy

During this life-changing 9 month journey, the expectant woman experiences tremendous changes on the physical, emotional, mental and energetic levels. She needs to feel supported, and in a safe space.

The upper energetic centres, known as Chakras, are the reservoir for the hormones released within the lower centres before, during and after pregnancy.

The Brow Chakra (Ajna) controls the Hypophysis gland which releases hormones (LH and FSH playing a major role in fertility) within the gonads, associated with the Sacral Chakra (Swadhisthana). The Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura) is also greatly involved during pregnancy, dealing with the digestive system and located near the belly.

Balancing these major Chakras involved in pregnancy and any other that need attention, along with working on any question, doubt or fear will enhance a better control of emotions, and establish a relaxation that both mother and child will benefit from.

In the womb, the foetus is a giant ear; his auditory apparatus is the first sense organ to develop, few weeks after conception. He hears all the sounds that the mother hears, and might show many signs of communication during a Sound Therapy session.

The unborn baby lives in resonance with the mother, who is the only reality that he can experience, his ear pressed up against the mother’s pelvis, which acts as a resonance chamber.

He can receive all sound frequencies through the vibrating antenna that the mother’s body is.

Sound needs no words to be felt and integrated, which is useful for the baby who cannot speak, and for the future mother who doesn’t always have words to express what she feels, especially during that time.

Reclaim the power and wisdom of your body to trust this natural process.

If you want to experience this wonderful journey with yourself and your unborn child, learning how to increase the vibrational bond from a very early point, then come and explore the many benefits that Sound Healing can offer.

What will I experience?

Although your experience will be as unique and special as you are, here is an hint of what you may come across.

The pregnant women I work with share very similar experiences:

They feel nurtured, deeply relaxed and find that they can enjoy a time for themselves (especially when looking after their other children).

A recurrent point is that they feel in symbiosis with their unborn baby, "bathing" into sound as a unique experience that they can share together with their baby.

Often they mention: "Time with baby" when I ask for their aim at the beginning of a session.

They find a release of tension in their sacrum (where the baby's weight is the most felt), and more energy as a result of listening better to themselves when they need to rest their body, instead of staying active by all means.

They feel more able to go through the pregnancy process, and many of them are amazed of how calm their baby is.

More info

More infoSound travels better through the medium of water.

The body is made up of 70-80% water, more so during pregnancy where the baby consists of 99% water, and evolves in the amniotic fluid, thus creating a powerful pathway for sound.

The pregnant woman and her growing baby are in a state of intense communication; the foetus lives in resonance, in pure cellular vibration with the mother, therefore it is important for him to develop in a healthy and stable environment, as he experiences all that the mother does.

In ancient cultures of China and Japan, the child's age was considered one year at birth; his senses start to develop only a few weeks after conception, and give him a way to perceive the world with his growing awareness.

Besides, the mother's body is a powerful conduit for enriching her baby's inner world, as many analogies are found between the pelvis and the ear/throat system on a physical, emotional and energetic level. They are two "different" levels of the body, but sharing similarities of structure in their anatomy and work in symbiosis in their physiology.

During her pregnancy, the woman's posture tend to be more vertical due to the weight of the belly, therefore her larynx pushes more on the vertebral column, which becomes an efficient instrument of diffusion, acting as a vibrating bridge between her larynx and her pelvis.

The baby's head and ear are in direct contact with the hipbone, where the pelvis becomes a huge resonance chamber.

The frequencies emanating from the mother's voice will be integrated from the start.

I recommend the work and research of Dr Alfred Tomatis, an amazing ressource if you want to delve deeper in this area.

In between the sessions, you may be given a few exercises and tips to practice and enjoy at home, which will greatly enhance your process.

It will mainly be some breathing and toning exercises, in order to gain more understanding of the different levels within you and how they work together. They will also induce a relaxation that you will be able to reach at anytime.

Benefits of toning:

  • Inner massage, with a relaxation of muscles, deepening of breath, and oxygenation of body.
  • Creation of endorphins (stimulation of Hypohysis gland) to help coping with physical and emotional pain.
  • Relaxation, as brainwaves are slowing down.
  • Direct connection with baby, through the larynx, vertebral column and pelvis.
  • Expansion of lungs capacity, therefore helping with the shortness of breath that occurs when the baby start to grow.
  • Toning has a neuro-chemical effect on the brain, increasing the effectiveness of the immune system.
  • Releasing blockages (sighing, groaning, moaning etc. are all parts of toning).
  • A better journey through labour, using the "law of sphincter".
  • A readjustment of the energetic body, by resonating different Chakras that can be fed or charged by toning.

There is so much more to share and discover.

I look forward to working with you and your little one !
